The Hanging of our 100th Block!

Enjoy the following slide show of images from the celebration of the hanging of our 100th quilt block!

Quilt Trails celebrated its 100th block installation on October 11, 2008. Jeff Phillips Installed the block and Wad Whitson of Whitson Electric provided the bucket truck. Awards were given to the project's many volunteers [a 10-page list!] who have helped bring us to this milestone.

This traditional block is called "Fish" and is on the barn of Alan & Bevo Peterson, at 4135 Pensacola Rd in Burnsville. Alan is an avid fly fisherman and wanted the shapes to look like brook trout.

In conjunction with the event, the Yancey County Commissioners issued a proclamation in recognition of the occasion and Barbara Webster's leadership in the Quilt Trails Project, declaring October 11 "Barbara Webster Day!"
